An Improved Apparatus for Vapourizing* Medicines, Disinfectants, • Perfumes, and other Substances. William Henry Murray Chemist Assistant 15 Mayfield Villas Merton Hoad Wandsworth Surrey and Thomas James Kinsley, Gentleman of 108, Gaisford Street, Kentish Town, in the County of Middlesex do nereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows :— An apparatus, “ which is to be used for the purpose of vaporising ” medicinal, disinfectant, perfuming and other substances consisting of a double metal cone connected at its base. In the enclosure formed by the inner and outer metal cones it is proposed to use a heat producing power. The inner cone is to be made of a heat conducting metal, and hollow, so as to contain the flask or bottle holding the substance to be vapourised ; and will terminate at a certain height above the outer cone. The outer cone is to be made of a non-lieat conducting metal. The heat used may be either gas, oil or spirits of wine. Dated this Thirtieth day of November 1889. WILLIAM HENRY MURRAY. An Improved Apparatus for Vapourizing Medicines, Disinfectants, Perfumes, and other Substances. 20 We William Henry Murray of 15 Mayfield Villas Merton Road Wandsworth in the County of Surrey Chemists Assistant and Thomas James Kinsley of 108 Gaisford Street Kentish Town London Gentleman do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement:— 25 This invention consists of an apparatus or contrivance for vapourizing by heat (such as from the flame of a gas or other suitable burner or lamp—for instance a spirit lamp) any suitable medicines chemicals or chemical compounds for medicinal purposes or otherwise such as disinfectants and perfumes etcetera or for vaporizing or burning any other substances or materials as desired (for instance insect destroyers 30 microbe killers etcetera etcetera) and for which it may be suitable. The chemicals or ingredients are contained in a kind of flask or holder of any suitable material (but advantageously made of glass) and this holder or vessel is placed in the centre part of the apparatus or contrivance which forms the subject matter of the present invention and which we will now proceed to fully describe with 35 reference to the accompanying sheet of drawings—so that the said invention may be fully understood and readily carried into practice. Figure 1 represents a side view in elevation of the said apparatus or contrivance and heated by a gas jet on the well known “ Bunsen ” burner principle. Figure 2 is a vertical central section of Figure 1. 40 Figure 3 is a plan of Figure 1 with the double shield or cover removed.
