  • RAMC/1623/2: Commission as Lieutenant in the 1st Fifeshire Rifle Corps, 1884.
  • RAMC/1623/3: Certificate of proficiency as army surgeon, 1887.
  • RAMC/1623/4: Commission as surgeon in the 6th (Fifeshire) Volunteer Battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), 1889.
