Description

Byzantine plaque of the Fountain of Life. The painted surface is covered with a silver plaque showing the same design in relief, but with the faces cut out. The item was purchased in Istanbul by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1931 and accessioned in 1931 (accession numbers CC 5427 and P1372/1938). Related images: M0005662
