Ownership note
This council was founded as the International Committe on Group Psychotherapy in 1951 by J.L. Moreno. SHF was on the original Executive Committee. Its First Congress took place in Toronto in 1954. In 1959 the committee developed into the International Council. The Council's activities ultimately led to the formation of the International Association for Group Psychotherapy (IAGP), formally established in 1973.
