Description

Two wooden statues of St Nicholas of Bari (270-343) Bishop of Myra, patron of children and invoked against conjugal sterility and rheumatism. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1928 and accessioned in (right statue) 1937 (accession number R4739/1937) and (left statue) 1938 (accession number R431/1938). Neither statue is held by Wellcome Collection.
