![N° 12,771 A.D. ■ 1901 Date of Application, 22nd June, 1901 Complete Specification Left, 19th Mar., 1902—Accented, 1st May, 1902 PROVISIONAL SPECIFICATION. Improvements in Means for Patting Up Threads, Ligatures, Sutures or the like, I, Giles Henry Zeal, of 82 Turnmill Street, Clerkenwell, in the County of London, Experimental Glass Blower, do hereby declare the nature of this inven¬ tion to be as follows : — The invention has for its object improvements in the construction of means 5 for putting up threads, ligatures, sutures, or the like, In my Specification of Patent No. 23,692 of the year 1900, I described means for a like purpose in which a glass reel or reels is or are supported on an axle consisting of a glass rod or tube enclosed within a glass chamber closed at both ends and supported centrally in said chamber, or nearly so, by flanges ]() formed at the ends of said rod or tube. It has been found that as the axle was free to move endwise within the con¬ tainer, breakage sometimes occurred in transit. To remedy tne above inconvenience I now propose to form the glass container with inturned ends of a somewhat conical form, the glass axle being of such ] 5 length as to enable it to be held, with but very slight endwise play, centrally within the container by the said inturned ends entering the ends of said axle, when the latter is tubular, or into end recesses formed in such axle when the latter is solid. The axle may be formed with or without a flange at! each end, but such flanges, when employed, are not required to hold the said axle centrally 29 within the container. As a modification the container may be formed with externally projecting, preferably conical, ends, in which case tlie glass axle will be correspondingly formed to be held thereby centrally within the container. Dated this 22nd dav of June, 1901. 25 HARRIS & MILLS, 23 Southampton Buildings, London, W.C. Agents. COMPLETE SPECIFICATION.
