Notes

This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The combination of the gloves, the cigarette holder, the bow-tie, the monocle, and the seafront setting signified a man suspected of being homosexual. The word 'thing' when applied to a person had an implication of some kind of either queerness or impropriety: a similar comic card shows a man looking at two prostitutes, with the title 'One damn thing after another' ".
