Description
Five monaural stethoscopes previously held by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum. From left to right, the first was purchased in 1927 and accessioned in 1940 (accession number R1265/1940). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A61964). The second was previously owned by Sir James Paget before it was acquired by the Musuem and accessioned in 1918 (accession number R7634). It is now held by the Science Museum. The third is Italian and was accession by the Museum in 1936 (accession number R2312/1936. It is now held by the Science Museum. The fourth is English and was accessioned by the Museum in 1936 (accession number R2291/1936). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A625002). Nothing is recorded about the final one.
