Description

Impressions from three seals. On the left is a stone seal incised with images of bulls and goats. It was purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1931 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2379/1938). The middle seal is made of haematite and incised with an image of the Sumerian sun god Shamash receiving adorations. It was purchased at auction by the Museum in 1924 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2361/1938). The right seal is incised with an image of the Sumerian god Ninurta overcoming a monster of chaos and bringing order to the world. It was acquired by the Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2359/1938)
