Colonel Bozman was born in Cheshire, England, in 1899. He served 1914-1918 war in the Notts and Derby regiment and in the R.A.F. In 1925 he joined the Indian Medical Service. He had a history of working with tropical diseases in countries like India, where he had served for a number of years. He also worked at the Ministry of Health, the Foreign Office and as a university lecturer before taking up the post at the Wellcome. His tenure at the museum was a time of organising and settling the administrative functions and staff numbers to give the facility stability that had not always existed in its various moves and re-organisations.
