Description

Photograph of three portable stethoscopes of the type first introduced by Quain. One is made of cedar and ebony and the other two are made of vulcanite. They were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1936, 1937 and 1955, accession numbers (left to right) R4391/1937, R73/1955 and R2275/1936. They are now held by the Science Museum (object number A625005, A625076 and A625059).
