Description

Photograph of two three-bladed vaginal specula. The first is 17th century and worked by a cog-wheel. It was purchased in Paris by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1928 and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R4479/1936). The other is from c.1823 by Weiss, London with a handle to rotate and open the blades. It was acquired by the Museum at an unknown point.
