Description

Photograph of four stethoscopes introduced by Piorry in 1827. All four have a pleximeter and the last one also has the conical stopper. They were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1936 and 1941, accession numbers (left to right) R2271/1936, R2304/1936, R102/1941 and R2303/1936. They are now held by the Science Museum (object numbers A608196, A625007, A212838 and A600062).
