Video of a talk delivered by Hood-Williams at the International Congress of Child Psychotherapy on Saturday 24th October 1987, San Francisco, USA, recorded the day after in his room at the Hotel Meridien.

The video mainly comprises Hood-Williams in an armchair in front of drawn curtains, next to a table with a lamp, reading from a script of his lecture and occaionally ad-libbing further explanatory information. The title of his talk is 'The Lowenfeld Approach to Child Psychotherapy'. Mostly static camera, with some slow zooming in and out and occasional adjustment of angle. Includes cuts to photographs of the ICP, pictures of Hood-Williams with a child in 'Worlds' room, pictures of a series of 'Worlds' accompanied by Hood-Williams analysis of the case study, pictures of sand trays and pictures of paintings by Russian-French artist Marc Chagall.

John Hood Williams was a former student of Margaret Lowenfeld at the Institute of Child Psychology. He was the author or editor of several books on psychology and sociology including Beyond Sex and Gender by Wendy Cealey Harrison and John Hood-Williams (Sage Publishing, 2002), Child Psychotherapy, War and the Normal Child: Selected Papers of Margaret Lowenfeld, edited by Cathy Urwin and John Hood-Williams (Free Association Books, 1988), Issues in Sociology: Families by John Hood Williams and Diana Leonard (1992)
