Stipple engraving by W. Ridley, 1801, after C. F. von Breda. At the top is a portrait of William Withering (1741-1799) English botanist and physician, in an oval. Below is a vignette of him analysing the waters of the Queen's Bath (Caldas de Rainha) at the request of the Portugese Court. It was published as a plate to R.J. Thornton, Sexual system of Linnaeus, London, 1807. Related images: V0006336
