Description

Photograph of three diptych dials. One is made of ivory and is possibly from 17th century Nuremburg. The magnetic needle and string gnomon is missing. It was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Musuem at an unknown point and accessioned in 1917 (accession number R9292). One is made of wood and has a horizontal dial only. It was acquired by the Musuem at an unknown point and accessioned in 1916 (accession number R5166). The other is made of ivory and has a horizontal dial only. It was purchased at auction by the Musuem in 1923 and accessioned in 1923 (accession number R14981). None of the instruments are held by Wellcome Collection. Related images: M0017347EB, M0017349EB
