The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The sailor's reputation for having a girl in every port and a roving eye is expressed in this cartooon of ca. 1910, about the time of the popularity of the music-hall song 'All the nice girls love a sailor' made famous by Ella Retford. His eye is caught by a strong-woman called "Madame Goodformski" ".
