Description
Photograph of an original Culpeper microscope with characteristic alternating arrangement of the legs above and below the stage, alongside its pyramidal box, inside which Culpeper's trade card is to be seen. The card shows the 'Crossed Daggers' - the sign at which Culpeper worked. It was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1949 (accession number R64/1949). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A1849). Related images: M0017158
