Heatley's correspondence with Professor David L Cowen, Professor Emeritus of History, Rutgers University, relating to his research for a book on the history of antibiotics, Heatley's lengthy response to a review published in the Bulletin of the History of Medicine (1981) by Cowen of Gwyn Macfarlane's study of the first part of Florey's life (Howard Florey: The Making of a Great Scientist, Oxford University Press, 1979) and further correspondence between the two discussing Florey and other participants in the development of penicillin.
