About this work

Description

A typed description was included on the reverse of the frame, likely used during a previous exhibition: "No. 11. These pictures were painted by a single woman aged 48. As a child she was frequently ailing and delicate. As a patient she was always extremely shy and usually unhappy: she could never show affection and was inclined to withdraw if affection was shown to her. She was always deeply interested in art and music. Her latent ability is evident in the elaboration and organisation of her work."
