Description

Photograph of five monaural stethoscopes, 19th century. From left to right, the first, third and fifth were designed by Traube. The second was desigend by Fergusson or Stokes and the fourth is possibly French. They were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1936 and 1941, accession numbers (left to right): R3877/1936, R2285/1936, R273/1941, R274/1941 and R103/1941. They are not held by Wellcome Collection. Four are now held by the Science Museum (object numbers A135028, A155835, A155836 and A232186)
