Description

Photograph, 2 February 1903, of William Bayliss (far right) conducting a vivisection experiment on a dog in front of medical students, an event which led to the "brown dog affair" vivisection. Two of the men standing behind the desk in the centre of the photograph are Henry Hallet Dale and E.H. Starling. From a set of photographs of physiologists, physicians and medical scientists presented to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum by Professor Kenneth J. Franklin
