Description

Three wooden statues, one of a saint purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4725/1937). The second is of St Francis of Assisi (c.1181-1226) Italian friar and preacher. Invoked against headaches and plauge. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4775/1937). The third is of the Virgin Mary holding the infant Jesus Christ. It was purchased at auction by the Museum in 1931 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R469/1938). None of the statues are held by Wellcome Collection.
