Description

Photograph of five charms and amulets used against witchcraft: holed stones from Devon and Nottingham; belemnite from Dorset; vervain root from Norfolk; and a rowan tree cross bound with red wool, English. The holed stones were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum at unknown points and accessioned in 1936 (accession numbers R13357/1936 and R15797/1936). The belemnite and vervain root were acquired by the Museum as part of the Lovett Collection and accessioned in 1936 (accession numbers R15948/1936 and R15754/1936). There are no particularls about the rowan tree cross
