About this work

Description

Wooden spirit level. 183 Euston Road was built in 1931–32 anddesigned by Septimus Warwick, who also designed other notable London buildings, such as Lambeth Town Hall and Canada House. This level was held by Henry Wellcome during the ceremony that marked the start of building works. This item was previously on display in Wellcome Collection's "Medicine Man" gallery until October 2020.
