About this work

Description

The title given is taken from wording written on the box of the film reel, though the date of the film seems to be more like c.1945. The film begins with the following title card: "This film was taken during the final course of Rescue Training given at the Surrey Country Rescue School at Leatherhead, which handled over 7,000 civilian and military students during the War. Though silent, unedited and uncoloured, the film captures the spirit of the acting "casualties" and the tense atmosphere of realism achieved". The film then shows casualties being located, casualties being unearthed from wreckage, first aid being administered, and casualties being moved on stretchers. There appears to be some duplication with SACAS/C/5/1/4/1. There is an intertitle at the end stating that Casualties Union is continuing this important work in peace-time.

This is a digitised version of SA/CAS/C/3/2/4.
