Description
Black and white reproduction of an oval shaped image depicting Dhanwantari, the Hindu god of medicine, rising from the Ocean of Milk with the nectar of immortality (Amrita) in the episode of Hindu philosophy called samudra manthana (churning of the ocean). Includes an English annotation underneath the image, which reads "Dhanwantari. The Vedic Father of Medicine, and the cup of Amrita or Water of Life, who came out from the sea at the Churning of the Ocean". The image and annotation in English underneath are visibly attached to the original paper before reproduction.
