Notes

This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "From the innuendo in the inscriptions it is clear that the three subjects of this set of photographs were (or were pretending to be) gay men conversing in a code that could be easly recognized by other gay men, and yet seem innocuous to a casual reader. Delightful period theatrical camp."
One of three photographs of young men, signed and dedicated to 'Phil', a pianist at the Altrincham Garrick Theatre, Manchester 1941/1943. The others are Wellcome Library nos. 2060426i and 2060427i
