Description

Photograph of four monaural stethoscopes. The first item was presented to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1953 and accessioned in 1955 (accession number R94/1955). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A625043). The second was designed by Fergusson or Stokes and was acquired by the Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R2316/1936). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A625054). The third was possibly designed by King and was purchased at auction by the Museum in 1932 and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R2413/1936). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A138943). The fourth was purchased by the Museum in 1929 and accessioned in 1941 (accession number R288/1941). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A75939).
