Description
Wooden statue of St Damian, Arab physician and martyr, who along with his brother is the patron saints of pharmacists and doctos. Invoked against epidemics and swollen glands. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1932 and accessioned in 1937 (accession number R4781/1937).
Wooden statue of St Blanche (5th century) with her three children who were also saints. The item was purchased by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1934 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R444/1938). It is not held by Wellcome Collection.
Wooden statue of St Anthony (c.468-c.520) patron saint of solitary life and invoked against ergotism, skin ailments and animal diseases. The item was acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1955 (accession number R40/1955). It is not held by Wellcome Collection.
