Description

Photograph of a microscope designed by Lionel Smith Beale for class teaching and clinical work. When the instrument has been focused, the tube may be fixed, so that the setting is not altered when the instrument is passed from one person to another. It was purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1920 and accessioned in 1926 (accession number R17795).
