Photograph of the first and last pages of a letter dated 16 January 1876 from Joseph Lister to his brother Arthur, referring to an his experiments with catgut prepared in chromic acid and glycerine. It is one of a number of photographs accumulated by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum as part of its exhibition held in 1927 to celebrate the centenary of Lister, in conjunction with The Royal Society, The British Universities Hospitals and Medical and Surgical Colleges.
