Reproduction of two photographs of a member of the Ekpe secret society dressed in the costume of Ekpe (also known as Mgbe). The photographs were published in Talbot, P. A.: The peoples of Southern Nigeria: a sketch of their history, ethnology and languages, Volume III, London: Oxford University Press, 1926. Copies of the book images were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number PHO 10940 and PHO 10941).
