Doctors for a Woman's Choice on Abortion was set up in 1976. It consisted of a group of doctors from most branches of medicine working to give women a real choice about whether or not to have a legal abortion when they need one. Its primary aim is to provide a forum for discussion between members, the medical profession and the public on the issue of a woman's choice on abortion. It acts as a pressure group which monitors and lobbys for change in the law relating to legal abortion. DWCA feeds into organisations such as Pro-Choice Alliance and Co-Ord by sending a representative to these meetings. It lobbies MPs if there are any attacks on the 1967 Abortion Act. Savage acted as Press Officer for England from 1978 to at least 1990. In 2018, DWCA changed its name to Doctors for Choice UK.
