Description

Impressions from three seals. On the left is a Babylonian haematite seal incised with images of human figures, deities and an animal. It was purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930 and accessioned in 1937 (R478/1937). The middle seal is made of haematite inscribed with an image of the deity Ishtar in a circle of clubs setting forth to battle. It was purchased at auction by the Museum in 1932 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2358/1938). The right seal is Babylonian made of stone and incised with human figures. It was purchased at auction by the Museum in 1933 and accessioned in 1938 (accession number R2365/1938).
