About this work

Description

A painting by Normal psychology patient 3, identified by Rita Simon as "Mental Handicap (Slow Learner)". The image is a self-portrait of the patient, and he is holding toy ship.

Rita Simon noted that the patient drew himself without hands or feet, unlike how he drew his two brothers.

The title has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

Rita Simon's style classification: Archaic Linear.
