About this work

Description

Copies of school reports, a certificate stating Darren can attend school, a letter sent to Darren's mother in response to a request for advice about a potential investment, and a set of letters sent to Darren from the Medical Officer at the Department of Health and Social Security keeping in touch with how Darren is progressing and responding to requests to help with specific issues such as obtaining an exemption from wearing a seatbelt. The papers are dated 1972 and 1977 to 1984. The file also includes two photographs: one is from the late 1960s and shows twin boys affected by thalidomide decorating a Christmas tree with their mother. The other shows one of the twins with Darren Mansell at a disabled sporting event held at Stoke Mandeville in the early 1980s.
